Supporting the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition through NOCC TEAM TEAL!
As the owner of North Coast Runners Supply, I have made it my life’s mission to raise awareness of ovarian cancer and bring comfort to anyone affected by this horrible disease – the disease that still has no early detection test, and where most diagnosed do not live to five years. I do this to honor the life and legacy of my mother, Sharon Drucker, who lived with an ovarian cancer diagnosis until her passing in April of 2021. Through my partnership with the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition’s ‘NOCC TEAM TEAL’, I use my love of running to raise vital funds for the organization that works to end this disease while sharing my story and advocating for others who no longer can.
As a member of NOCC TEAM TEAL, the endurance program of the NOCC, I have run in the BMW Berlin Marathon, TCS New York City Marathon, Eugene Marathon, made the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, and have raised over $125,000 to support ovarian cancer research and quality of life programs which include meal delivery to patients, professional counseling, peer to peer support groups, and financial assistance to patients in need – all through the NOCC. I have not done this alone, and through the support of many, together, we are helping to make a difference in the lives affected by ovarian cancer!
My next Team Teal event is a big one as I take on the Boston Marathon in 2024, and I hope to raise even more funds to support this cause that still has no early detection test. I ask the community to learn more about ovarian cancer which can affect anyone born with ovaries, as well as consider supporting the cause, and my efforts. I am more than grateful for every donation made – and know that together we can truly make a difference in the lives of others. WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER!!!
